BHMS implemented the village concept in 2003 when the school
changed to block scheduling. The idea is that groups of children are
clustered in villages with the same core teachers. Each village has
two humanities teachers, one math teacher, and one science teacher.
Teachers meet on a regular basis to share curriculum, teaching strategies,
and assessment data. The focus of Poway Unified School District is
"all students learning," and teachers at BHMS feel that with a small group
of teachers knowing small groups of children, their individual needs could
be better met. |
