NEW DIRECTIONS HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM

Attended New Directions (ND) High School Program in the past:

Students who have attended the high school program at ND must meet with their high school counselor to request a transfer.  If approved, the counselor will fax a referral to ND. After receiving the referral:
ØND personnel will call you to schedule an enrollment appointment.
ØStudents must continue attending classes on campus until the day before their enrollment appointment or they will be considered truant.

Never attended ND High School Program:

Students who have never attended the high school program at New Directions (ND) must attend a "Parent/Student Information Meeting."
BEFORE attending the information meeting, the student & parent are required to meet with the counselor at their school site to:
ðDiscuss the reason for requesting the transfer,
  ðInvestigate options/interventions available on
the campus in lieu of transferring.

If the transfer is approved by your school counselor and administrator, you will be given a referral form and asked to do the following:

  1. Call New Directions at 858-748-0010 ext. 2420 to register to attend the next available information meeting,
  2. View the PowerPoint presentation,
  3. Attend the information meeting.

At the information meeting, if the student wishes to continue with the transfer to New Directions, you will:

  1. Schedule an enrollment appointment,
  2. Withdraw from your school the day before your enrollment appointment,
  3. Continue attending classes on campus until the day before the enrollment appointment or a truancy will be given.

NEW DIRECTIONS MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAM

Parents who would like their child to enroll in the middle school program at New Directions (ND) must speak to the counselor at their child's school to:
ð Discuss the reason for requesting the transfer,
  ð Investigate options/interventions available on
the campus in lieu of transferring.

If the transfer is approved, the site counselor will call the ND counselor who will:

  1. Call you to schedule an enrollment appointment,
  2. Advise you on how & when your child will withdraw from their school (the day before his/her enrollment appointment),
  3. Inform you that your child must continue attending classes on campus until the day before the enrollment appointment or a truancy will be given.
