TEEN PARENT PROGRAM 858-748-0010, Ext. 2070
The Teen Parent Program is located on the Poway High School campus. It
meets the unique needs of pregnant and parenting teens by providing them with
the opportunity to continue to work towards a high school diploma. The Center is
a fully equipped, learning environment designed to assist pregnant teens, teen parents
and their babies.
Curriculum:
The same curriculum that is required and used in the traditional schools is
used in the Teen Parent Program based upon:
- PUSD Academic Standards
- California State Standards
- California State Frameworks
- Stanford-9 standardized test objectives as prescribed by the
state of California
Instruction
Students meet one-on-one with a credentialed teacher during
regularly scheduled weekly appointments. New Directions individualized
learning plans are prepared and require independent completion.
Students work on 1-2 lessons at a
time. Students may also take classes not offered by New Directions such as
physical education, advanced math, and science labs on the Poway High School campus.
The ultimate goal is to continue the education of these young men and women
and prepare them and their children for success in school and society.
