Library

The Abraxas Library Media Center is located in the middle of the campus; and is staffed by a Library Media Assistant. Students come here to find a quiet place to work, to check out contracts and textbooks, check current periodicals, do research, find leisure-reading books, and get help with assignments. Although we are the smallest school in Poway Unified School District, we are proud of our facility. Students have access to many materials including several Internet connections. It is also the biggest room on campus and serves the purpose of a multipurpose room as well. We have over 540 videos in our collection and students are encouraged to check them out during the day for viewing in homerooms, or they may stay and watch them at the library viewing stations. Videos may not be checked out overnight, so we ask students to plan their usage well. Many videos are incorporated into our contracts and students are encouraged to view them in groups or as individuals.

The library is open most school days between 7:45 AM and 2:15 PM unless preempted by scheduling of meetings, speakers or testing usage. Students may come in any time during the regular school day, and before or after school. Students who need to arrive at school early may come into the library and view the news or other pertinent television via our cable connection, work on assignments or use library materials. The library is the site of many activities during the school year. Speakers and special meetings are arranged for students, staff, parents and community members regularly.
