Extreme Narratives

  • Are often fictional or biographical
  • Can be the easiest type of writing for children to address.
  • Include a plot, setting, characters, and conflict.

Good Narratives:

  • Contain a beginning, middle, and end.
  • Focus on one main event.
  • Include many concrete, sensory details.
  • Are usually written in first person.
  • Contain some kind of conflict.
  • Are well organized.
  • Tell the reader why the event was memorable.

Steps to Good Narratives:

  • Make sure you read the prompt carefully.
  • Begin with an interesting lead.
  • Give the context of the event right away, including, who, what , when ,
    where.
  • Include appropriate sensory details.
  • Stick to the story
  • Let the reader know why the event was memorable
