You may receive one or both of the Student Progress Report pages to the right from your child's teacher. These pages have records for every MAP test your child has taken. They also indicate the typical growth expected and compare it to your child's actual growth.

They also show the norm group average score as well as the district average score for each reporting period.

These reports contain the same information. The only difference is that the one on the left is in a written data format while the one on the right uses graphs.

After you receive copies of your child's RIT scores in Math, Reading, or Language Usage, click on the link to the right to go to a chart that allows you to select your child's  RIT range. Choosing one range below and one above in addition to the score your child received will show you what your child already knows, the material they should be learning, and the material they will be introduced to next.

The MAP Reading assessment report will include your child's Lexile score. (Your child also receives a Lexile score on his or her California Standards Test.) This score may be used as a guide when choosing books at an appropriate reading level for your child.

The PUSD Lexile Website was created by teachers to help parents and students select books at appropriate reading levels

The following chart is a good resource to see what typical scores are at each grade level according to national norms.  It also shows the relationship between a child's RIT score and the level with which that score is correlated on the California Standards Test.

  • Student Goal Setting Reflection Guides
These two charts provide questions that help students reflect on their academic performance on the MAP assessment as they develop personal goals.
