Time to do some Research:

As a moderator, your job is to represent no single faction. That means that unlike the other members participating in the town meeting, you must have a broad understanding of all sides.


Questions and Tasks the Moderator Must Answer:

Status Report:

  1. What are the values and beliefs of the town citizens prior to the town meeting?
  2. Was there any changes in the values and beliefs of the citizens after the town meeting?
  3. Compare and contrast the public opinion in Seaside with the opinions of other communities in the United States.
  4. Create an additional 2 questions that your team feels are critical to the role of moderator.
  5. Create a detailed process on how the town meeting should be run.

Values Assessment

  1. What public values or beliefs underlie nuclear power, and might create a bias one way or the other on the importance of nuclear power in the US

Action Plan

Your job is to organize the town meeting and provide the other groups with information about the town members.


Presentation Advice

Because your task is to create a concise presentation, consider the following strategy:

  1. Prioritize what you think the most important issues are. This will take some detailed and supported discussion among team members.
  2. Identify the two or three most important issues.
  3. Develop a main strategy that addresses these top two - three issues.
  4. Order a series of steps that shows the Action Plan.
  5. Explain where compromises took place and why you made the decisions you did.
  6. Create an informative and engaging presentation.

Complete the Responsibility Form
Create a Brainstorm Outline of Resources Available.
Create pre and post questionnaire to track any change in opinion.
A brief statement answering the questions asked in your dossier. Write a solid value assessment. follow the following format.

  1. State Title and Author of artifact
  2. Cut and paste the excerpt from the artifact and transfer in to a word-processing application
  3. Italicize the excerpt
  4. Write a brief synopsis
  5. State why this information supports our task.
