to correspond to the new Elementary Progress Reports. For
each grade level standard we've included several links that will
provide instruction and practice opportunities for students.

through hundreds of valuable resources to find lesson plans
as well as resources for guided, and independent practice. A
search for resources to teach biographical writing
produced an excellent student resource that supports student
understanding of summarizing, main idea, and more:

level, standards, subject, Thinkfinity Partners or resources
(audio, interactivities, lesson plans, primary sources,
videos, or worksheets.)

resource type, learning objective, or theme. If you
search through their interactive resources for students,
each is linked to multiple lessons to introduce the concept
needed before students practice skills

the PBS Teacher site, a new education portal for teachers.
It has thousands of lesson plans, professional development
options, videos, blogs, and more.
Teaching students to evaluate
resources for credibility and to understand effective ways to
harness the vast resources available on the web are critical
elements of all we do in education today. Visit
McKenzie's website for some great lessons, student-based
projects, and insights to improve our practice in this area.
The University of Illinois at
Chicago has a great interactive tool to teach students
how to do effective online searches.
