Video Content into the Curriculum
Using United Streaming

Exploring all the Features of  United Streaming

Understanding the Delivery Process of Video:

Video is delivered via the Internet path which means that it a "BandWidth" hog and can affect the Interent speed performance in our District.

Therefore it is important to understand the deliver methods for video content using United Streaming.  It is important to understand the methods and use the one that will deliver the best performance for your students and your teaching.

METHOD #1: Downloading to school site video server for using during school

At each site there is a video server that is designed to download after hours, store and share downloaded video.  This is often referred to as the network manager for US.  Please review the handout or video clip so you are able to use this method.  Handout | Video Clip

It is highly discouraged to download to your computer, you will fill up your harddrive or local file server and affect the performance of those tools.

The downside of this method is that you cannot access the files outside of the school therefore if you want to continue, expand or enhance the learning using United Streaming you must use Method #2

METHOD #2: Using the "Assignment Builder" and linking

Using this method allows the video content to stay on the United Streaming site but creates a link that you can use with your student. Click here to see a sample: Assignment (see below) The second method is easy to use because you copy the URL and past that into your Learningpoint site or Powerpoint.

Students will be prompted to enter their first and last name. That is the only issue.

This method is recommended for accessing content "OUTSIDE" our district because it will not affect our bandwidth or Internet Speed.

Student Access

There are two ways you can give your students access to an assignment. Choose one of the ways below.

  1. Provide students with the following Assignment Code: T43F1-C17F
Your students will need to go to the Student Center and insert the code into the "Assignment Code" input box. Once a student logs in, he/she will need to input their student name and then complete and submit the assignment. You will receive an email when an assignment has been completed.
  2. Provide students with the following URL:
    http://streaming.discoveryeducation.com/studentCenter/index.cfm?cdCode=T43F1-C17F
The student will go directly to the Student Center home page with the Assignment Code pre-populated. A student can input his/her name and then complete and submit the assignment. You will receive an email when an assignment has been completed.
