  • Sign In, pick up a notebook, dividers, text, and Self Assessment Handout

  • Find a computer and login

  • Complete your self-assessment handout.  Then, turn your paper over and divide it in half.  Record on one side three of the most successful strategies you used to improve learning last year. On the other half record your top three goals for using MAP and other data to improve instruction this year.

  • Meet with a partner, share what you've written, and prepare to share your goals with the class.  (You may type them in a Word doc to display as you share.)

  • One strategy that was successful:  Jeopardy Word Analysis  (Freebie Link)

  • Class Norms and Documentation:  Rewriting our syllabus  (Successes in the 201 last year and new strategies for this year.)

  • Reviewing:  10 Principles and the MAP 101 Web page

  • Tour the MAP 201 page starting with the link on www.pusdmap.com  What is new?  Note Reading Instruction tools

  • Exploring our Text:  Read chapter 1, highlighting passages that stand out and connect to our MAP learnings. Note the quotes hanging on the wall and choose one that you'd like to explain based on our reading.  (If you highlighted one you'd prefer to share, add it to the wall!)

  • Planning for fall testing and goal setting:  What strategies do we want to implement this year and what do we need to do to be ready?

  • Our Extreme Academic Makeover Practice

  • Homework: Read Chapter 2 and write a reflection to share with us at our next class.
