Step-by-Step Instrucitons (PDF Files)

Preparing for your Elementary Progress Reports.

  1. Create a new folder on the server

  2. Check your Report Card Maker software for updates

  3. Do a "GET" for your class list. Rename and Save your RCM file on the Server.

  4. Complete Progress Report for each student

  5. Print Progress Report for each student

Below is a description of each step, a short video of the step and the written version.  When viewing the Video, choose High Speed Audio for best performance.  Close the Window when you are done viewing.

Creating a New Folder

CHECK for Updates to RCM

THE WHY:  Step one is to create a folder on your network drive in order to save your progress notice file.  Creating a fold is important for organizational as well are retrievals purposes.  If you file is stored on your network drive you can access it from home, the site server is backed up nightly and if you experience trouble, your file can be remotely accessed by a technician for support. Let’s Get started.

  1. Click on My Documents
  2. Click on pull down menu File
  3. Point and Pause on NEW
  4. click Folder ..
  5. Now Press F5 to refresh your screen
  6. Find the NEW FOLDER (yes, named NEW FOLDER)
  7. right click and rename: 
    ERC 07-08
     Elementary Report Card 07-08

THE WHY: Step Two is to check for updates made to the Report Card Maker Software.  We continue to improve the progress notice reports as well as the functionality of the software.  In order to take advantage of these modifications, you must update the software installed on your machine as well as at home.

  1. Launch your RCM Software

  2. Click the pull-down menu HELP

  3. Click on "Check for Updates Online....

STEP THREE:
GET your Class List
  STEP FOUR:
Begin to input your progress reports for students.

THE WHY:  Step Three is to get your current class list of students.  Your class list is created and stored on a central server here at the District.  So that you do not have to type in your student’s names and ID numbers, the software has a feature which allows you to “get” your classlist.

  1. Click on the Get... button

  2. Select your school and name

  3. Click the Get File... button

  4. Enter the Password ERC

  5. Click on the MyDocument Button on the left of the window

  6. Navigate to your new folder created in Step One.

  7. Click on the file name and add T1 to either the beginning or the end (before the period).
    i.e.  mteacherT1.rct or T1mteacher.rct

  8. Click Save button

THE WHY:  Step Four is to complete a progress notice for each student assigned to you.  Once you have completed all the data entry, you will then print a copy for each student.  In addition to the Progress Notice, you will need to complete and print the Parent Friendly Trimester Benchmark Standard page.

Tips for ClassList View

  • Use the marker colors at the Class List page to organize your students
  • DO NOT delete student, just move to the botton
  • NEW STUDENTS...make sure you put in their correct student ID number

Tips for Progress Report View

  • Change the Trimester Title
  • Change the Year Title
  • Set the Trimester 1 Field

Step Five:  Print student progress report
