BACKGROUND:
Children's Hospital and Health Center originated in San Diego County in
1953. It is now a nationally renowned facility that provides
comprehensive medical care for all children. Children's Rancho
Bernardo Center has served the community since 1983 providing speech and
hearing therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, child and family
counseling, developmental assessment and learning disability services.
DESCRIPTION:
The
partnership between Children's and PUSD Health Services is one of mutual
collaboration and support. Children's Hospital & Health
Center, including Children's Rancho Bernardo Center, is a community
resource frequently utilized by Health Services staff.

GOALS:

Provide
medical support for Health Services as needed.

mutual knowledge and understanding of services provided by
Children's Hospital & Health Center and Poway Unified School
District Health Services Department.

communication between agencies.

Explore
medical consultation for school health issues.

Continue
to provide professional literature research when needed.

Provide
professional growth opportunities for Health Services staff
including continuing education credits for nurses.

Explore
the creation of a community medical collaborative to address health
issues (i.e. standards of care, health database).
