Lessons

Monday- No School Today. Memorial Day. I've included a link for you to view in case you're interested in the origin of Memorial Day.

Tuesday- Throughout his political career, Richard Nixon was asked to defend himself.  You are about to see and hear excerpts from one of the most famous speeches in American history. It is known as the Checkers speech. Visit Earthstation1 and scroll down the page until you reach Checkers.rm. Watch and listen to the speech. I am including a link to the transcript of the speech so you can read along. In a paragraph, describe how Richard Nixon's honesty and integrity had been challenged and how he defended his actions. Also, be sure to include the reason this is known as the Checkers speech.
Years after the Checkers Speech, President Nixon would use television once again when he visited Communist China. You can read about Nixon's visit by using all of the links that are located on the left side of the Nixon in China site and then answer these questions. E-mail both assignments to me by 7:00 am on Friday. (A-20)

Thursday- In Class today we will be studying the rise and fall of Richard Nixon. We will review a timeline and then watch some video on  Watergate and examine the War Powers Act that was passed over the objections of the President.

Friday-   It's stamp time!  You will view stamps from the 1970's. Be sure to answer all 10 questions and e-mail your answers to me by 9:00 am on Monday. (A-20)
