Week Of May 11th Monday - Today you will be exploring several of the major Civil Rights organizations that contributed to the advancement of equality for all. For each organization listed describe the methods that they used to achieve their goals. Your descriptions should be 3-4 sentences in length for each organization. The groups are the SCLC, NAACP, CORE, Freedom Riders, Nation of Islam, and Black Panthers Submit your responses to me Hard Copy on Thursday.(P22-20) History Social Science Standard 11.10.5 Tuesday - Online Assignment:Sometimes history repeats itself. Read the information from Prudence Crandall and the Canterbury Female Boarding School and answer the 9 questions at the end of the document. Then read the information from All Eyes on Little Rock Central High and answer the 8 questions at the end of the document. Submit your responses to me Hard Copy on Thursday. (P23-30) History Social Science Standard 11.10.5 Thursday- In class: We will see several segments of Eyes On The Prize today. There will be Critical Thinking questions for you to answer during the video. History Social Science Standard 11.10.2 & 11.10.7 Friday- Today is devoted to the achievements of two Civil Rights leaders- Malcolm X and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. You will be gathering information about the pre-Mecca Malcolm and Dr. Martin Luther King by reading some of their most famous speeches. After reviewing all of the information, you are to write a dialogue between these two men in which they discuss how their methods will best lead to equality for African-Americans. (Make sure you include at least 4 statements from each man) Think of this as a debate between the two leaders. Be sure to use quotes from each of the speeches in your dialogue. The speeches should provide you with all of the information you need. You must identify all quotes in your dialogue by placing them in quotation marks, using bold, and parenthetically citing the speech. No more than 1/3 of your paper can be directly quoted. I want to see that you understand the philosophies of these 2 leaders.
