Week Of Jan. 5th
Monday- Final Project: Directions:
Create a book or power point presentation that includes the 6 sections that are listed below. Each section will consist of two parts. If you choose to do a book, it should have a cover, table of contents, and be bound well. If it is a power point, it should have a title page, visuals, and be well organized.
The first part of each section will be a summary of the Unit and its contents. Include the main things you learned in this Unit and why it was an important time in US History. You will also include a short (1/2 Page) highlight of an important person or event from the unit. You may choose any person or event you like and include why the person or subject was important to US History.
The second part of each section will be a creative interpretation of the section. This should include ideas and key words from the section. Ideas for the creative page include, poems, drawings, collages, letters, charts, maps, political cartoons, short stories, pop up stories...) You may use something you have already done during the semester as long as you add a little to it to make it top quality. For example, you may use the song you wrote for the Depression in Section 6 as long as you make sure it had a title, is well written, no spelling or grammatical errors, and maybe add a couple more verses to it if it is too short. You also might add some drawings or pictures for visual enhancement.
Finally, you will conclude your book with a page called "note from the author". This page will contain a letter from you to your readers. It must include what you have learned so far in US History, why you think learning history is important, and a little background information about yourself. I will leave it up to you to create this page and make it unique.
Section 1: Origins of Democracy in America and Immigration
Example (Note: this will be the same for each section 1-6):
Part 1: Summary of Unit and choose one person or event from this unit to highlight.
Part 2: Creative Page
Section 2: Industrialization
Section 3: Religion in America
Section 4: Imperialism and WWI
Section 5: The 20s: Intolerance, the Jazz age, and Prohibition
Section 6: The 30s: Great Depression and New Deal
"Note from the Author"
Include biography of yourself, what you have learned, why history is important, and note to the reader of your packet. For the creative part about yourself, you may include a collage, pictures, photos, drawings…
