Monday - Put the finishing touches on your research paper. It is due on Lab Day!!! No Late Papers!!! You need to Submit a copy of your paper through Safe Assign by 7:00 am Thursday AND bring me a hard copy of your paper to hand me in class that day!

Tuesday - Read the questions below and keep them in mind as you read one Life History. Then, answer the questions below based on your reading. You will only be reading one life history.  You may choose which ever one you would like to do from the four listed below.

Be sure to submit the answers to the questions through Safe Assign by 7:00am on Lab Day. (28E-20)  History Social Science Standard 11.6.3

    1. What is the general tone or attitude of the person being interviewed? 

    2. What are the current circumstances of this person's life?

    3. What events seem to have led to these circumstances?

    4. At least two government agencies are identified in each Life History. Describe how each agency impacted your person's life.

    5. Who do you think should be responsible for helping citizens who are struggling to keep a roof over their head and food on their plate? (ie. the government, private charities, family members) Explain your answer.

    6. If you were an employer, would you hire this person? Why?

We will watch Focus on the 1930's and review the New Deal.

Friday- Today we will be studying an extremely controversial topic. It is known as Roosevelt's attempt to "pack the Supreme Court". Read the Separation of Powers article and answer the following questions.  Submit your responses through Safe Assign by 7:00 am Monday January 7th . (29E-15) History Social Science Standard 11.6.4

1. How many Justices does FDR want to add to the Supreme Court?

2. If Roosevelt is allowed to add Justices to the Supreme Court, what does Gannett believe will happen to the balance of power in the United States?

3. If additional Justices are needed on the Supreme Court, how does Gannett believe they should be added?

4. Why must the absolute independence and integrity of the Supreme Court never be in doubt?

5. What is the Constitutional issue that is presented by Gannett? Why is it so controversial?

6. Throughout this course we have seen examples where one branch of government has abused its authority at the expense of the people. Cite one example from first semester and explain how the rights of the people were violated.
