I expect each of you to be able to recognize when a subjunctive is necessary and be able to set the sentence up correctly. This includes the subjunctive when the existence of something is uncertain, in WEIRDO cases, and to identify the correct tense of subjunctive that is required: present perfect, present, imperfect.
I expect each of you to be able to express actions in the Future, using the formal future tense rather than “Ir + A + Infinitive”
I expect you to be able to respond with the correct verb forms to an “If/Then” situations.
I expect you to be able to express yourself in the past with the correct forms of Preterit and Imperfect AND to express yourself regarding ongoing actions with the Present Perfect.
I expect you to be able to use advanced travel related vocabulary, be able to describe basic health related issues and to be familiar with cultural foods, meal times and etiquette.
I expect you to match your nouns and adjectives. If you are describing your mother, the adjectives should be feminine.
I expect you NOT to rely on English to get your point across.
I expect you to show me that your Spanish is better now
than it was in September.

Grading of both the oral and short answer essay sections of the final will be based on a rubric as follows:
Outstanding (5): Student has mastered the concepts presented in the class. Shows a great deal of control of the grammatical topics and has an extensive vocabulary that covers a variety of areas and social interactions. There are virtually no mistakes with the elements covered in class this semester, especially with irregular forms.
Very Good (4): Student demonstrates good control of the grammar and vocabulary with which we worked this semester. Uses the new vocabulary and structures introduced in class instead of relying on previously learned material. May still make some mistakes with more advanced irregular structures, but regular and high frequency forms are correct.
Adequate (3): Student is still working on control of the concepts and grammar of the course but demonstrates a general understanding. Relies on previously learned material although introduction of new expressions and structures is present if not completely accurate. High frequency and basic structures are correct although there are errors with irregular forms.
Reduced (2): Student demonstrates little control of the concepts of the course. There are significant errors in even the most basic sentences and expressions. Uses elementary vocabulary and even regular forms, high frequency structures and previously learned material contain mistakes. Difficult to comprehend or deduce meaning.
Below grade level(1): Unacceptable, inappropriate or completely incomprehensible.
