q  Read Chapter 10. Fill in the blanks on LB pgs 54 - 55. Use this document to help you.

q  Do LB pages 57 - 62. Due 4-2-08

q  Urinalysis Lab LB p 63 - 66.  Will be done in Class This Wed. 4-2.  Read through the background information on this useful diagnostic test LB p 63 front and back).  As you read, Highlight the different conditions and diseases and what is seen in the urine.  

Also, review these websites:  (1) Urinalysis   (2) Urinalysis Answer these questions using your LB pages and the above websites, then staple the answered questions to the back of your lab.
     1.  What are the steps in diagnosing disease?
     2.  What diseases can be indicated by urine color?  Give an example.
     3.  What diseases can be indicated by urine odor?  Give an example.
     4.  What diseases can be indicated by urine pH and specific gravity?  Give an example.
     5.  What diseases can be indicated by urine microscopic observations?  Give an example.
     6.  How can pregnancy be determined by a urine test?
     7.  Can urinalysis quantify amount of drugs in the system?
     8.  What diseases can be indicated by cells in the urine?  Give an example.
     9.  What are the signs of diabetes mellitus? 
    10.  What are the signs of kidney malfunction?
    11. What are the signs of renal parenchymal disease (glomerulonephritis)?

We will have a MIDTERM EXAM  in class on the Circulatory, Respiratory and Excretory systems on 4/16/08  ( no books or notes allowed).  Diagrams on the test will be: The heart, respiratory system, excretory system and nephron.  Stop by J-8 to pick up your graded work so you can use it to study!

1.  What is a neurotransmitter?  Give 4 examples of neurotransmitters and what they signal.
2.  Describe how neurotransmitters diffuse across the cleft and then back--and what this does to the neurons involved.
3.  Watch these two video clips.  Describe what drugs do to synapses. (short paragraph)
