Online Policies Attendance: The online class meets twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays, unless otherwise stated by the instructor. Please attend every single class as valuable information will be given in each session. Plan doctor and dentist visits so that they do not fall on your lab day during this class. Because the class meets so infrequently, students cannot make up for lost points in discussions, Socratic Seminars, etc. Be sure to attend every class. If you do miss a class for any reason whatsoever, it is your responsibility to meet with me to make it up. If your attendance is an issue in trimester 1, you will not be allowed back into online for trimester 2. Tardies: Unlike other classes where you have up to 4 tardies before reaching tier 2, the online class allows for only one to receive a phone call home and get onto Tier 2. Every time you're late you will be written up. Period. Get here by 7 a.m. if you are in period 1, come in the class, relax, socialize, whatever. Just be here on time. There are no excuses for being late to a twice-weekly class. Each time you are late you receive 10 points off the "tardy block". At the beginning of each trimester, each student is given 50 points for attendance. If they are late, they lose 10 points each time. If you're never late, you get to keep all 50 points, basically an A grade for attendance. Given you get to skip 3 classes a week, please be here on time. Homework Policies: Homework is to be completed by either Mondays or Wednesdays, whichever day is stated on the Web site and brought to class on the day you attend in a printed format if typed, or on a jump drive/ disc if it is a Power Point presentation, etc. Realistically, every student has one week to complete their assignments as work is posted a minimum of one week ahead of time, on most occasions homework is online months ahead of time. Generally, homework is a solid TYPED response page. Given that you have a week to get homework done, you should have no problem getting your work typed and printed before class. It should not be printed out in class or at the library 5 minutes before class. I will not accept late passes from the librarian because you decided to print your work out right before class. Plan your time well, as assignments are considered late if not brought to class on your day of attendance. Even if you are sick and excused, work is still to be either emailed to me, or dropped off in my box in the faculty room by your class time, otherwise it is considered late. The second you enter class for the week without your work, it is considered late. NO LATE WORK IS ACCEPTED. Tests: Tests will be given every week and generally consist of at least 20-25 questions from the material provided. Students who miss a test will be given exactly one week to make up the test; after one week it cannot be made up. What if I'm not here? Easy. All of the work is still online. If you skip a class, you're still responsible for the content and doing the assignments. You are not entitled to an extension because you missed a class. If you skip Monday and there's a test Wednesday, you're still going to take the test with everyone else. |
