Please come to class dressed as Frankenstein's monster for extra credit. (Just seeing who actually reads this). In-Class: Test through chapter 14. We will review the book so far and catch up with some notes. We will then have some mild entertainment in class. Assignments: Read chapters 14-21 in Frankenstein for next week (yes, I know it's winter break), and then complete the book for your next class in 2 weeks. Links: Character Descriptions An Essay on How Victor Plays God by Creating a Man Reincarnation and Bringing Bodies Back to Life Background
Information: Victor tells Walton of how he was born a Genevese,
the son of a distinguished magistrate, with two brothers and an adopted
sister, Elizabeth. He grew up with his siblings and best friend, Henry
Clerval. He had a secret fascination for the dark sides of nature- this
was increased after he saw a thunderstorm over the Jura mountains, and
after his mother died, he grew more interested in the causes of life and
death, as well as the power of electricity.
