March 22--March 26 -- PQ Library, 6 week progress notices with letter, Works Cited, Movie Viewing with Sub, Evaluation

March 29-April 2 -- Grammar Lesson to Prepare for Revision Day, Complete BP #4, Revision Day on Lab Day, Intro and Conclusion lesson and completion

April 5-9 --  Revision of Introduction and Conclusions, Revisions of whole paper with works cited, Parent/Guardian Edit Form

April 19- April 23 -- American Identity Speech Intro and Testing Review Started

April 26-April 30 -- Test Review and Speech Preparation

Last Pieces of information for this year....read below....

Monday was a review day.  All extra credit pieces were collected.  On your finals day in this class, you need to bring in your Catcher novel.  This is your ticket into the class.  If you purchased your own copy, bring it to class. 
STUDY FOR FINAL and bring study guide to class.

September 2nd - September 6th-- American Monuments-- How did we understand what America is all about?  What is the American Heartland?

September 9th- September 13th-  Twain's style as a writer, Presentations for Monuments, Start reading Huck Finn as class, Vocab #1

September 16th - September 20th- Huck Finn-- Presentations/Understandings

September 23rd - September 26th-Huck Finn; Chapters 9-14; Reading Strategies, Literary Commentary and Analysis

September 29th- October 3th-Huck Finn (Chapters 15-18) -- Using lead-ins and commentary in your writing; Discussion of Kennedy's article and Twain's Views on Racism

October 6th - October 10th- Huck Finn (Chapters 17-24) ; Mississippi River as Symbolic setting, One Pager with Partner; 25 minute Video on Twain

October 13th- October 17th-   Huck Finn (Chapters 25-35); Post-it Notes; Culture of America; Developing a Thematic Focus for Literary Analysis.

October 20th- October 24th- Huck Finn final chapters, Life is...Metaphor, Present Individual Projects by the end of the week

October 26th-October 31st-  NO SCHOOL DUE TO FIRES

November 3rd- November 7th - Compare and Contrast Twain's Writing

November 10th- November 11th -- Veteran's Day MONDAY & TUESDAY holiday

November 12th-November 14th--Study Guide Due; Test: Partner Essay Visual; Start poetry with Walt Whitman

November 17th- November 21st- Continue Poetry Analysis; Finish Visual Organizer for Essay; Quick Intro for Gatsby before the break

December 15th-December 19th--Read Chapters 7-9; American Dream Theme for Lab Day. Composition Books collected this week.

March 24th-March 28th- Junior Paper-- Body Paragraphs and Conclusion completed.  Rough Draft completed and brought to class on lab day.

April 7th- April 11th -- SPRING BREAK; Parent or Guardian -- Paper Editing

American Identity Presentations will be given on off-roll days in smaller groups.  Schedule will be posted. Each small group will choose the best speech for that particular day.  All top speeches will present again for the entire class. 

April 21st- April 25th-    American Identity Presentations/ Rubric and Examples/Sign up for a unique topic  for speech.

April 28th - May 2nd-      American Identity Presentations start/Catcher Starts (6-7 speeches)
