RANCHO PENASQUITOS, Calif. -- Tania Colston, a Marine staff sergeant serving in Iraq since January, phoned in to a Rancho Penasquitos first grade classroom Friday to thank the children for their hard work.
Colston, a volunteer parent reader in her son's first grade class at Sunset Hills Elementary School, now reads to the children via a pre-recorded DVD.
"It's been a really good way for the boys and girls to write about it, and then for her to learn about what we're doing, so it's been great," said school official Jane Sjoberg.
One student said of Colston's DVD's: "It makes me feel happy and it makes me feel like she's having a good time there with all the things in her room."
