Students are required to have a valid parking permit
clearly posted on the driver's side, interior front windshield. Parking without a valid permit will result in a parking ticket from the San Diego Police Department. Parking regulations are strictly enforced.
Parking Permit Application
Only a limited number of permits are issued to students each school year, and Westview will not issue a parking permit if the student has any outstanding fines or athletic equipment.
All Westview Students who request a parking permit must attend the "Start Smart" Driving Program with their parent or guardian. A parking permit will be issued after providing proof of the "Start Smart" class attendance. Proof of attendance can be a registration receipt (once the class has been completed) or certificate of completion.
You will need the following when applying for a Parking Permit:
- Start Smart Certificate or be on the list to attend a class
- Student Parking Application
- Driver's License
- Current Car Registration
- Proof of Car Insurance
Parking Permits can be obtained before school in the Attendance Office. Junior and Senior students may obtain a parking permit at the beginning of the school year during registration and continuing. Permits are on a first come, first served basis, and anytime thereafter. Sophomores may receive a parking permit beginning Quarter 3, if permits are still available.
At Westview, it is considered a privilege to drive and park on school grounds. Suspension of driving privileges, towing of vehicles and/or disciplinary action may result if a violation occurs.
All California Vehicle Code Laws are in effect, and enforced on campus at all times. The maximum speed limit on campus is 5 miles per hour. If a student has been reported for careless driving on school grounds, it will result in loss of parking privileges. Truancies, behavioral referrals (two per year) will also result in the loss of parking privileges. Lost, stolen, or damaged parking permits can be replaced for a $5.00 fee, and a new parking application is required, with supporting documents noted above. All parking on campus is reserved.
Fines and Tickets
The San Diego Police Department issues parking tickets on the Westview campus. Fines may vary from year to year from the San Diego Police Department.
Tickets will be given for the following violations:
- Parking without permit
- Parking in fire lane/red zone
- Parking in handicap spot
- Parking in any non-student parking area
Got a ticket? Feel it was in error? Once written a ticket cannot be voided, it must be appealed. You have 30 calendar days from the date of the ticket to appeal the ticket in writing with the San Diego Police Department. The instructions for appealing a ticket are on the back-side of the ticket.
