Team picked for Poway schools
program
By: Richard Spaulding
The PinnacleOne/Barnhart joint venture team was awarded
a program, project and construction management contract
from the Poway Unified School District. The joint venture
team is made up of PinnacleOne and Douglas E. Barnhart
Inc.
The team will oversee the planning and execution of
a $251 million program to repair, renovate and expand
24 of the district's schools. Approximately $198 million
of funding for the projects is made possible by the
November 200 passage of Proposition U by Poway Unified
School District votes.
The program will replace aging portable classrooms,
upgrade inadequate plumbing and electrical systems,
install more energy efficient mechanical systems, bring
school sites into compliance with current safety and
access codes, and build new permanent classrooms to
relieve current overcrowding.
NTD Architects has been selected as the architect for
the first five school projects and the district plans
to start construction of the first four projects in
the summer of 2004.
Representing the joining venture are Jerry King, Mark
Claussen, Layne Arthur and Latrell Cronister. Doug Mann
and Mark Miller are representing the school district,
along with Superintendent Don Phillips, Deputy Superintendent
John Collins and a citizens' oversight committee. |
