Volunteer Guidelines - Be volunteer
ready!
Westview is a better place
for our students because of you! All Westview volunteers must comply with a few
easy to
follow
requirements:
All regular volunteers must have
- Megan’s Law Clearance
- Current TB test
- Volunteer badge
Some may also need to be fingerprinted. See below.
What is Megan’s Law and why do I need it?
In 2003, PUSD determined that for the safety of students all
regular volunteers must have their names cleared through the Megan’s Law
database. This database is the State of California sex offender list.
Click here to obtain a copy of this application. A “regular” volunteer is
someone who is on campus once a month or more. It is easy to fill out the form
and be ready to volunteer when called!
What if I did my Megan’s Law at another school?
If your student was at Mesa Verde Middle School or another middle school
within PUSD, you will need to complete the
Megan's Law Transfer Form.
What about TB testing?
All regular volunteers must also have a current TB test on file.
All tests are valid for four years. You must obtain a TB test from your own health provider.
A copy of the results can be left with the health technician when completed.
Who needs to be fingerprinted?
If you are scheduled to volunteer in a situation where you will not be
directly supervised, you will be told you need to be fingerprinted. PUSD cannot
accept fingerprinting done through other organizations. Please see the front
desk for a Level 2 form.
Don’t forget to sign in,
get a Volunteer Sticker and parking pass
Volunteers must sign in at the office WHENEVER they are on campus for two
reasons:
1. Security – this helps us ensure that each adult on campus has the
proper clearance to be there volunteering.
2. Safety – in case of an emergency, we need to know where you are.
When you sign in, please remember to enter your volunteer hours in the column
indicated on the Sign-in Log. In addition, you must have a valid parking pass
from the front desk or you will be ticketed!
Driving on field trips
If you’d like to drive students for ANY school-related activity, you will
need to complete the Private Vehicle Transportation Form. This form should
be obtained from the teacher organizing the field trip. The required minimum insurance
coverage for public liability is as follows: Bodily Injury - $100,000/$300,000
per accident; Property Damage - $50,000 per accident; Medical Payment - $5,000
per accident.
A word about privacy
As a volunteer you may see or hear confidential information about a student.
Please keep it confidential. If other parents approach you about their student’s
progress or behavior at school, please refer them to their student’s teacher.
