The 2010 swim & dive season is approaching. Let’s
get ready to make the 2010 season a great one!!
NEWS
This Week:
Week three of the 2010 swim and dive season is coming to
an end. Before we look ahead to week four let's look
back at week three. Week three saw the Wolverines
compete in their first dual meet of the season against
Oceanside on Tuesday. Tuesday's meet was a great meet
for all the Westview athletes. Congratulations to all
the swimmers and divers who competed in Tuesdays meet
against Oceanside.
The meet started strong with Westview divers on the
boards for the first time of the year. All the divers
were able to compete on Tuesday and were working hard to
improve their dive lists. After the diving portion was
complete the swimmers took to the pool for their first
chance to race for Westview. Both the JV Girls and JV
Boys teams swam well throughout the meet and dominated
the competition. Both the JV Girls and Boys won every
event of the meet. In the Varsity events Oceanside
started off strong with a win in the Varsity Girls 200
medley relay but the Westview Varsity Girls rallied to
win 7 of the next 10 events. On the Varsity Boys side
of the meet the Westview Boys took an early lead and
swam strong the entire day. Congratulations to all the
swimmers and divers on a great competition to start the
year.
A special thank you to all the parents and
volunteers who were able to help during Tuesday's meet.
WE WOULD NOT HAVE A TEAM WITHOUT YOU!! It was great to
see so many parents supporting the team by timing,
helping with snack bar, scoring table, and cheering for
the swimmers and divers. Thank you again for all your
assistance with the meet. All the swimmers, divers, and
coaches appreciate your support.
Parent Volunteers:
We are still in need of parents to help with timing and
snack bar at future competitions. If you are interested
in helping or would like to volunteer please contact:
Alane Hennes @ ahennes@san.rr.com to sign up to help
time for future swim meets or Lisa Miller @
lisa@photographybylisak.com to help with our snack bar
at home meets.
Next Week:
The Wolverines travel to Escondido for their first away
meet of the season on Tuesday, March 16th. Buses will
be departing from Westview at 1:00pm on Tuesday.
*Attention 10th Graders* 10th grade testing will
conflict with your transportation to Tuesday's meet.
10th graders will need to find another form of
transportation to Tuesday's meet. Remember that you
will need to fill out and submit an alternate
transportation form. Please talk with your coach before
the end of the week, Friday March 12, to let them know
whether or not you will be attending Tuesdays meet.
Other Items:
Snack bar donations needed!! Please remember to drop off
your snack bar donations to the pool as soon as
possible. A list of donation items to bring is posted
at the pool office.
Next Home Meet:
The next home meet will be on Friday, March 26th against
Carlsbad. Please mark your calendar and try to attend
the meet. This will be a very exciting meet as
Wolverines will be taking on defending CIF Division 1
Champions.
GO WESTVIEW!!
