Volunteer Opportunities
Thanks for your interest in volunteering. There are many opportunities throughout the year to assist the PTA and TBEF
with events that are fun for our children and raise money for our school.
In addition, we welcome volunteers in the classroom, library, and office. Your child's teacher will send home information about volunteering in the classroom.
If you'd like to volunteer in the library, please contact bhamilton@powayusd.com or just drop by the library. Even if you only have 20 minutes, please drop in, as every little bit of volunteer time helps. See the library page for hours that the library is open.
Also, we're currently looking for volunteers for these positions:
- If you or anyone you know is looking for a fun way to get involved at school please consider helping with Cheetah Running Club.
There are many opportunities to volunteer that require a very small time commitment. Our early morning lap monitor shifts
are very popular with dads that bring their kids to school. If you don’t spend a lot of time on campus, a record keeping
position is your opportunity to contribute from the comfort of home. Below is a list of the jobs available. Please note
the schedule could change based on the total number of volunteers available. Please contact Tracy at kraftfamily@cox.net
- Lap Monitors: Monday Lunch Recess (approximately 11:25-12:25)
- Lap Monitors: Tuesday/Wednesday Before School (7:15-7:40)
- Lap Monitors: Thursday/Friday Morning Recess (10:00-10:35)
- Record Keepers: Gather lap logs from each class for your grade level at the end of each month and use provided spreadsheet to total individual, class and grade level laps to determine individual awards, Golden Shoes and Top Cheetah status. If you are interested in this job, please specify which grade you would like to handle.
- Arts Attack: We need volunteers to lead (or co-lead) one or two art classes per month,
as arranged with your child’s teacher. Certain art projects require parent leaders - students will only be able to participate if the parents in the class lead them.

Volunteer Requirements
Per PUSD policy, all volunteers
who work on campus must have completed a Megan’s Law background check, signed the Code of Conduct and turned into the office documentation of a current cleared TB skin test. TB tests are
available from PUSD free of charge to volunteers and are valid for 4 years. Please note that volunteers must have received a Volunteer Verification form from the office before receiving a TB test.

If you've previously completed the background check at a different PUSD location, complete the Transfer Request for Megan's Law information.

TB Testing
Free TB Testing from the district has been reinstated. Please see PUSD's TB Clinic and the
2008-2009 TB Test Schedule. TB tests can also be completed for a fee through your private physician or the San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency.
The County of San Diego offers convenient TB testing at the low cost of $8.

Remember, no matter where you have your TB test done, you need to return 2 days later for the test to be read, and you need to be retested every 4 years.
Reminder
All volunteers should sign in and out at the Volunteer Office located between room 22 & 23, so we can keep track of who is on campus. We also receive funding based on the number of on-campus volunteer hours, so please be sure to sign in and out and note the time.
