Shoal Creek's dedicated staff and parents as well as the enthusiasm of the students have formed a professional learning community where all partners collaborate together toward the common goal of doing what is best for children and their learning.  This community spirit is embodied in our vision statement that proclaims, "You are entering a community where learning is the focus, creativity is encouraged, each individual is valued and success is ensured."

Shoal Creek Elementary School is located in the Carmel Mountain Ranch community of northern San Diego County.  It is one of twenty-three elementary schools in the Poway Unified School District, and serves 650 students in grades kindergarten through five from a rich diversity of cultural, ethnic and linguistic backgrounds.  Fifty-seven percent of our student population is Caucasian, with the largest minority group being from various Asian backgrounds.

We are truly committed to all students learning.  Our mission is to meet the academic, social and emotional needs of all our students.  The highly trained staff of 35 teachers and 29 support personnel are dedicated to providing a challenging and quality educational program that balances basic skills acquisition with critical thinking strategies for real life application based on the district academic standards.

We meet the needs of each student by offering a variety of class placement options, which include two-year looping classes, multiage, and straight grade level classes.  We also offer a parent participation preschool, three special day classrooms for students with special needs, and programs for GATE, ELL, RSP, speech and language, and at-risk students.

Volunteers play a vital role in the success of our many individualized programs for students.  They assist by working in the classroom with students, preparing materials for teachers, and supporting school-wide events. Our PTA actively sponsors our school newsletter and over twenty events for our community including a fall harvest festival, student assemblies, and variety show.  Our Educational Foundation is actively generating funds to enhance the overall success of our programs.  We, as a Shoal Creek community, embrace our district mission statement which promises, "All students learning-whatever it takes."
