Welcome to the 2008-09 School Year at Morning Creek
Elementary!
This year promises to be another wonderful year for
our students and families at Morning Creek. We will
be opening the year with a focus on developing a
culture of “College Ready”. Our PTA will be
supporting this effort and we look forward to parent
and community involvement. At the beginning of the
year, each teacher will be reviewing the Morning
Creek Code of Conduct and discussing each of the
Character Pillars. This focus will help to develop a
climate that will support success for all students
by using common language throughout the school.
What’s new at Morning Creek for 2008-09?
We will be implementing full day Kindergarten this
year. Our teachers have been working to prepare an
excellent program for our kindergarten students this
year. Full day kindergarten will provide expanded
time for each Kindergarten student to develop the
academic, social and emotional skills leading to
success in elementary school and beyond.
This year Poway Unified School District is
implementing a new mathematics adoption. This new
program is sure to engage students in developing the
skills and knowledge to help them meet and exceed
grade level standards in mathematics.
How can parents and families be involved this year?
All parents and families are encouraged to join our
PTA. There will be a membership drive the evening of
our Back to School Night on September 4. Our
Foundation is also a wonderful opportunity to be
involved in fund raising activities which provide
great support throughout our school. If you are
interested in volunteering at school, please be sure
to stop in the office and complete the necessary
forms to be cleared as a volunteer. Your
participation makes a difference for your child!

Morning Creek School Community! Together, we create
a better tomorrow.
