PUSD School 39 In the News

About PUSD School #39

The Poway Unified School District is pleased to announce that the Board of Education has approved the construction of our first PK-8 School.  In the planning of this school, PUSD has an opportunity to “change the way we do school” by developing new and innovative approaches to address the learning needs of each student.  We will:

  1. Find ways to design a 21st century PK-8 learning experience to create highly educated innovators by:
    1. employing flexible instructional settings
    2. fostering student choice and ownership of learning
    3. personalizing students’ learning so they progress at their own rate
    4.  using technology as a tool to assist in intellectual development
    5. embedding thinking, creating, collaborating, learning and adapting into the daily work of students
  2. Explore the use of digital content to transform classrooms into engaging, learning-centered environments
  3. Seek new approaches to address the needs of different types of learners
  4. Find better ways to regularly, and digitally, assess student progress
  5. Explore ways to provide teachers with more time and flexibility to address individual student needs
  6. Develop daily opportunities for project based learning.

Our PK-8 school will be located in the Del Sur/4S Ranch community, on the southwest corner of Lone Quail Road and Camino Del Norte directly across from Del Norte High School.  It will primarily serve the communities of 4S Ranch, Del Sur, and The Lakes, which have been heavily impacted by new development, and will be designated a school of optional enrollment for these communities. Parents within these communities will have the opportunity to apply for their students to attend in the 2014-15 school year.  Please click on the "D39C" logo above for information on the communities eligible to participate in the enrollment process.
