MADD Loose Change Drive ~ Here are the results of the Mothers’ Against Drunk Drivers Loose Change Drive. From October 1st to October 30th, Del Norte donated $650.00. Thank you Nighthawks for working together to help a good cause. And the winner for the highest donation from a homeroom is……..
Winter Formal ~ We have a winter formal coming up on December 5th. We want you to be a part of creating our very first dance, so we will be having a DJ at lunch tomorrow, Thursday, to audition. We hope you get the chance to see him and we’d love to get your input.
Spanish Students ~ Are you a Spanish student who is interested in travelling to Mexico City and the Yucatan Peninsula over spring break? Come meet next Monday, November 9th, in Profe Craig’s room D117 at lunch to learn more.
Trimester 1 Final Exam Schedule

REFLECTIONS CONTEST 2009- Here’s your chance to express yourself artistically! It’s time to start creating for PTA’s Reflections 2009 Contest. This year’s theme is “Beauty Is…” Entries are accepted in 6 different categories: 1. Dance Choreography, 2. Film Production, 3. Literature, 4. Musical Composition, 5. Photography, 6. Visual Arts. Entry forms and details are available in the front office or from your English and Arts electives teachers. Entry deadline is Friday, October 30.

Library/tutorial time ~ Beginning Tuesday, Oct 20th the library will be open, during tutorials, for students with all As or Bs on their six week progress reports. Students MUST have a copy of their progress report in order to enter the library during tutorial time
Counseling home - Mr. Tahapary is available to assist students with academic, college, career and social/emotional needs. We are prepared to help students with a four-year high school program, college and career planning, as well as trade and technical vocations. If you have questions about your graduation status or about the kinds of electives which are most appropriate to your particular goals, any counselor can help you.

Week At A Glance 11/2/09-11/7/09
Attention – Ticket to Play paperwork for Winter Sports is due to the Athletic Department by Friday, November 6th.
Athletics ~If you are planning on playing a winter or fall sport, please make sure you turn in your “Ticket to Play” paperwork to the Athletic Department. Also if you have missing “Ticket to Play” paperwork, please turn it in as soon as possible. You must have a “ticket to Play” in hand in order to play a winter or fall sport.
Girls’ Basketball ~ There will be voluntary girls’ basketball open gym on Tuesday, November 10th and Thursday, November 12th from 4-6pm. Also, try-outs for girls’ basketball will begin on Saturday, November 14th from 5-7pm. All girls must have their ticket to play in order to try-out on the 14th. Please see Coach McNeely in room D-104 with any questions.
Boys Soccer ~ Tryouts for the Boy's soccer program will be held from Monday the 16th of November through Friday the 20th of November 2009, on the back grass soccer fields from 4:00 to 6:00 pm daily. All players should bring their boots, shinguards, running shoes and water. Also, each player must have a “Ticket to Play” from the Athletic Department in order to participate in the tryouts. Boys Basketball ~ If you are interested in trying out for the boys basketball freshman or JV team, please attend a very important interest meeting on Monday, November 9th at 7:30 AM in the gym.
Girl’s Golf ~ Bella Kim placed 6th in the Valley league golf finals, Paris Griffith qualified for CIF finals next week, the Nighthawks wish you good luck!
Cross Country ~ Congratulations to the girls cross country team for defeating both Oceanside and San Marcos last Friday. Monica Shifflet captured first place for the Nighthawks, with Sina Faizy, Natalie Shifflet, Roisin Andrews, Ashley Mitchell, and Jasleen Ghumman also finishing in the top 10. The girls are now 5 and 1 in Valley League competition heading into the final meet of the year with Westview this Friday. The boys cross country team also defeated Oceanside, but narrowly lost to San Marcos. Jared Brungard led the way by finishing in 2nd place, while Andrew Muhn, Ian Lee, and Aaron Chidester also scored top 10 finishes.

Football Games ~ Please note that Administration is not allowing wheeled riding items at any football games this school year such as razors, skateboards, rollerblades, etc. We are also asking that balls remain at home or put away and that young children be monitored by their parents. This will help us to maintain order and safety.
