Principal's Message
Dear Creekside Families,
The state’s report card came out this week and
Creekside’s API score has once again shown the excellent education that we
provide our children. This is a result of our dedicated teachers, parents,
and community. Our API this year is 952 which ranks us as #1 in the Poway
Unified School District and #6 in San Diego County. Congratulations!
As we continue our excellence it is important to
remember that for our children to compete in the global society of the 21st
Century, they will need to acquire a well rounded education that affords
them the opportunity to pursue many options upon graduating from high
school.
The district has adopted a new strategic plan that
continues to center on college readiness. Bill Daggot’s principles of the
three Rs, which are rigor, relevance, and relationships are used to frame
our work with your children, Creekside continues to provide academic rigor
for all of our children. The development of Character Counts at Creekside,
with PTA’s support, is helping to prepare our children to work in a diverse
world where respect and understanding of various cultures will be essential.
Last year’s work included integrating relevancy specifically in our algebra
math strand to ensure that students understand the concepts underlying the
math skills being taught. We will continue our work this year by building on
formative measures to ensure that all students show academic growth, as well
as expanding our relevancy component to the new district math adoption. We
want to thank the CEF for providing docu cams in each classroom and
technology support in this endeavor.
Each one of us plays an important role in this
journey of preparing our children for an ever changing world. Thank you for
continuing to support our school through your generous donation of time and
money. We need you as partners to ensure that we provide nothing but the
best for our children.
Warm Regards,
Robin Robinson
Cultivating gratitude is a factor in lifetime happiness. It's about our
perspective and what we focus on in our lives.
Research shows that people who keep a daily or
weekly gratitude journal have fewer physical symptoms, feel better about
their lives in general and make progress towards important goals (whether
academic, interpersonal or health based).
Daily gratitude exercises with young adults reported
higher levels of positive states of alertness, enthusiasm, determination,
attentiveness and energy compared to others. These people also reported that they helped
another with a personal problem and feel a greater sense of connectedness to
others.
Gratitude
Gratitude
unlocks the fullness of life.
It turns
what we have into enough, and more.
It turns
denial into acceptance,
chaos to
order,
confusion
to clarity.
It can
turn a meal into a feast,
a house
into a home,
a stranger
into a friend.
Gratitude
makes sense of our past,
brings
peace for today,
And
creates
a vision
for tomorrow.
