Text Box:                  Boy, second quarter sure went by quickly.  The wild fires caused us to lose five days of school.  We all were affected in one way or another by the losses that occurred.  The Abraxas family stepped up to provide for three of our own student who lost belongings in the fire.  And a special thanks to Bob Lutticken who organized a work detail to help families clean up property and dwellings in the aftermath.
We also had to struggle through the trials and tribulations of re-development.  At the beginning of the quarter, eight teachers and the office staff were re-located to temporary quarters on the west side of campus.  The parking lot was out of commission for a month and occasionally we were without facilities.  We all survived the inconvenience by parking in the neighborhood and at Arbolitos Park.  The contractor tells us to plan on moving back in the new facility by the start of the third quarter.
During the quarter we celebrated Red Ribbon Week.  This years theme was “Lei off Drugs” (see insert photo).  Our assembly featured the   Pioneers, a motorcycle group of

Text Box: reformed addicts.  Their presentation was inspiring and motivational.  One of their members was an Abraxas alum, and another was a father of one of our students.  We are grateful to the Pioneers and encourage them to continue to spread their message of sobriety.
We again want to thank the Churches of North County Inland.  They continue to support Abraxas with their generous gifts and hard work.  Thanks to the Chinese Bible Church for replacing a desk top photo printer and document shredder.  Success breakfast was postponed because of the fires.  So, in a gesture of community and togetherness, the Penasquitos Lutheran Church served breakfast to the entire school.   And once again, the Rancho Bernardo Baptist Church provided a Thanksgiving turkey lunch with all the trimming, including my favorite – Apple Pie!
The best part of the second quarter is our December Graduation.  Last December 2006; fifty four students participated in our mid-year ceremony.  We are looking forward to a similar number this year.

Text Box:   Sixty-five students graduated this December 2007.  Abraxas wishes all our grads the very best and encourage them to continue their education and enjoy a productive and meaningful life.  And don’t forget to come back and visit.
