Abraxas Counselors

Student counselors are assigned by last name as follows:

A—L      George Pantano

M—Z     Veronica Flores

Any question you have regarding your student’s progress should still be directed to their homeroom teacher.  George and Veronica will be happy to assist you in all other matters.

It is always better to call and set up an appointment to see your counselor whenever necessary.

Abraxas Attendance

As soon as you know your student is going to be absent, please call 748-5900 and the extension of your student’s homeroom teacher. See below for list of teachers and  their extensions…...

IS TRANSPORTATION TO SCHOOL A CHALLENGE FOR YOU?

If you live a distance away from Abraxas and the transit does not come near your community please let us know.  We need to know your name, and the community. If we gather 10 or more names for a particular area we can petition the district for a school bus.  So far, we have 2 names.  Please call  the school office at 858-748-5900 or email Veronica Flores at vflores@powayusd.com

*THE  BRIDGE PROGRAM*

This is an exciting program that will give students the opportunity to earn both college and high school credits. The Bridge program is designed for motivated students who will be seeking higher education through our local community colleges. They will receive support from Abraxas to meet the goals of their college courses as they progress towards graduation.

How can YOU qualify for BRIDGE?

My goal is to attend community college either during or after high school.

I will be a June graduate with 2-6 classes from graduation.

I am 12 classes away from graduation and highly motivated in attending community college after Abraxas.

* If the above requirements apply to you, please stop by to see your counselor.

Caring Connections Center

The Caring Connections Center is a “family resource center”.  It is for students who may be experiencing difficult situations at home or school, depression, continued academic failure, involvement in violence-related offenses, alcohol or drug-related behavior.  Families may be referred by school personnel or may self-refer for assistance.
